Guideline for Writing Articles

JDHII welcomes high-quality submissions that advance the fields of digital health, health informatics, intelligent systems in healthcare, and related interdisciplinary areas. Before submitting, please read these instructions carefully to ensure your manuscript meets our requirements and to facilitate a smooth review process.

  1. General Formatting Requirements
  • Manuscript file format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.05 spaced throughout (including references)
  • Page numbers: Bottom right
  • Margins: 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides
  • Language: English (British or American, but consistent)
  • Use international (SI) units
  • Spell out abbreviations at first use

  • Article title (concise and informative, ≤20 words)
  • Full author names, Current/latest affiliations
  • Corresponding author: name, email, full postal address, telephone
  • Keywords (4–8, MeSH terms preferred); MeSH: Medical Subject Headings
  • Acknowledgements
  • Funding statement
  • Competing interests statement
  • Structured Abstract (250–300 words)
  • Introduction (Background, Objective, Organization of Content)
  • Methods

  1. Ethical and Legal Requirements
  • Ethics approval and informed consent (or waiver justification) must be stated in Methods
  • Clinical trials: prospective registration number (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov) mandatory
  • Data sharing: include a Data Availability Statement (encouraged but not mandatory)
  • AI tools: disclose use of generative AI in Methods or Acknowledgements
  • Plagiarism check: all submissions are screened
  1. Competing Interests / Funding
  • Mandatory disclosure section (even if none to declare)
  • Use ICMJE form or clear narrative statement
  1. Submission Process
  • Submit via the online system or using current platform link
  • Cover letter (1 page): briefly explain significance, novelty, and why suitable for JDHII
  • No submission or page charges for review
  • No article Processing Charge (APC) applies only upon acceptance
  1. Open Access License

All accepted articles are published open access under CC BY-ND-SA 4.0. Authors retain copyright but grant JDHII non-exclusive publishing rights. We strongly recommend authors read the About the Journal, Editorial Policy, Peer Review Policy, and Publication Ethics pages before submission.

  • Vancouver style (numbered consecutively in order of appearance)
  • Use reference management software (EndNote, Zotero, Mendeley, etc.)
  • Journal names abbreviated per NLM catalog
  • Include DOI when available
  • Maximum: 50–80 references (more allowed for reviews)
